TORRE DE GUIMAREI is the last vestige of a medieval castle that was destroyed by peasant rebels around the fifteenth century. Patron saint festival highlight: SALMON FESTIVAL (3rd Sunday of May) with the International Salmon Fishing in the boxes of Ulla (weekend before). Week of cultural events and entertainment: a parade of vintage cars, concerts, recitals, exhibitions. Opening festivities. Salmon de Ouro Awards ceremony to personalities. Charter-based salmon in all restaurants of A Estrada. Popular free tasting. RAPA DAS BESTAS SABUCEDO (first weekend in July), this tradition goes back to the Bronze Age, but since 1567, when the plague devastated the region, brought another character. Tradition says that two sisters of the San Lorenzo area offered horses in exchange for saving them from the disease. After the plague, the women kept their promise and delivered the animals to the priest of the village. The horses were multiplying in the mountains and it was necessary to mark and cut the mane once a year to recognize them. The first official''Rapa'' goes back to the early eighteenth century. Since then, once a year, ''aloitadores'' meet the horses of the surrounding mountains and down to the Sabucedo gigs where horses are shaved, in front of thousands of visitors captivated by this spectacular tradition.
