Small, cosy holiday apartment in the Georgenthal recreational area, with good connections to cycling and hiking trails
The little holiday apartment for two people in Georgenthal is right by the swimming pool and not far from the forest, in the state-recognised recreational area of Georgenthal.
It has a separate and fully-equipped kitchen, a bathroom with a hairdryer, and a separate bedroom with a TV. Bed linen and towels are provided.
There is parking space available, but a car is not really necessary. Guests who arrive by bike can store them securely in the house. The town centre and the bus stop are within a few minutes’ walk.
With the guest card, for stays from 3 days, you can take the bus and the “Thüringer Wald Bahn” railway in the area free of charge, for example to Oberhof, Gotha and Tabarz. Goergenthal has been linked to the cycle path network for two years. From here you can cycle to the Rennsteig or to Erfurt or Eisenach on signposted cycle path. You can also walk along almost 100km of waymarked hiking trails, with destinations such as Wechmarer Hütte, Steigerhaus, Radebachmühle and Lohmühle with a barefoot park, along with local gastronomy to suit all tastes.
There is also plenty of history, art and culture to explore. The regional town of Gotha with Friedenstein Castle, the cathedral town of Erfurt, or Eisenach and the Goethe town of Weimar are all within easy access. You can follow the trail of Johann Sebastian Bach from Wechmar to Eisenach, Ohrdruf and Arnstadt. The Thüringe Greenfee ticket allows you to play on all five Thuringian golf courses, all within easy access along the A4 motorway.
Experience the winter with cross-country skiing pistes along the Rennsteig at Tambach-Dietharz and Oberhof, which can be accessed by bus from Georgenthal. Alpine skiing is possible in Oberhof or at Inselsberg. At the end of the year the Tour de Ski is held in Oberhof, and the Biathlon World Cup at the beginning of January. You can ski on snow all year round at the Oberhof snow tunnel.
