Peaceful holidays in holiday homes in North Holland
The peninsula and province North Holland are surrounded by the Wadden Sea, Lake IJssel as well as North Sea and covers around 4,000 km² including the island Texel in the north and Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands, in the southeast guaranteeing pure vacation atmosphere. Individualists can discover the enticing sights and opt for more activity with sailing, wind or kite surfing, diving or cycling. Families with children visit the extensive beaches, build sand castles or swim in partly shallow waters. Great bathing resorts along the west coast include Julianadorp, Egmond aan Zee or Callantsoog. Sailors prefer Monnickendam and Hoorn as starting points for exciting sailing tours over Lake IJssel. Holiday homes in North Holland also invite you to explore the island Texel. There are regular ferry connections from Den Helder which take guests to the island and they operate around every half an hour. The impressive beautiful beaches invite you to spend some carefree hours at the sea and the dune landscapes are perfect for long walks through breathtaking nature. The most well known place on Texel is surely Den Burg as with its small houses and picturesque village church is the cultural centre of the island. The former fishing village De Koog is the official bathing resort of Texel. Only separated by dunes from the sea it offers with its pretty houses a memorable holiday experience.
North Holland is a paradise for those yearning for vacation
From a holiday home in North Holland one should not wait too long to go on a discovery tour as there are many beautiful places waiting to be explored. Here we are not talking of Amsterdam the impressive metropolis on the southeast of the peninsula and where one could spend an entire vacation visiting the old town with its idyllic canals, the impressive museums and impressive buildings. But it is also towns and villages such as Bergen, Bergen aan Zee, Zandvoort, Petten and Sint Maartenszee that enthral visitors. Beyond the Netherlands the former fishing village Zandvoort has a claim to fame as it did not only develop to an impressive seaside resort but between 1952 and 1985 the Circuit Park Zandvoort played host to Formula 1 and to this day it is an important venue for national and international race car series.

Zandvoort’s beaches are wide and varied. There are 39 beach ‘pavilions’with comfortable outside sitting areas for you to enjoy sun, sand and sea. The centre of Zandvoort has many comfortable bars en restaurants and a variety of shops. The picturesque Zandvoortse huisjes are situated in the small streets around the centre.
Zandvoort is bordered on both sides by beautiful dunes (Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen to the south and Kennemerduinen to the north) which are excellent for walking. Walking and entrance permits may be obtained from the VVV Zandvoort. The long beaches run towards Noordwijk (south) and via Bloemendaal towards Ijmuiden (north). The beach at Bloemendaal is particularly popular because of its beach parties and cool beach tents.
