Whilst enjoying a holiday home vacation you can also have a try at preparing typical Italian food. Eventually the uniqueness of the country is also down to its culinary specialities. With fresh produce bought at the local market even a simple pasta sauce with a glass of wine tastes that much better than at home. Alternatively you can pamper yourself in one of the many Italian restaurants.
Explore Italy’s cities from your holiday apartment
One outstanding highlight is of course Italy’s renowned cities. Rome, the Eternal City, leads the way with its ancient treasures and architectural master pieces such as the Spanish Steps, the Pantheon or St. Peter’s Basilica. Venice is world-famous and unique for its setting in the lagoon and its canals which stretch through the city. Florence, Verona and Siena impress with their cultural sights. And while Milan in the north made its name as the fashion capital Naples in the south attracts tourists with its spectacular location between the sea and Mount Vesuvius. Choose a holiday apartment in one of the Italian cities or at least plan one or two city day trips – you won’t regret it.
By plane, car or train to Italy
Depending on your travel destination and starting point there are several journey options available. The most flexibility is guaranteed by travelling with your own car. However one must consider that travelling to south Italy takes a long time. There are international airports all over Italy and flights to popular holiday destinations are provided all year round. Travelling by train is also a good option when visiting the country south of the Alps.
Reviews from our customers
This is how holiday rental owners described Sperlonga
Sperlonga is one of the most desired locations on the beautiful Ulysses Coast, a favourite Mediterranean get-away for chic Romans and those in the know in search of a special summer holiday. It combines beaches, mountains, history, and charm, with plenty of great restaurants, shops, and markets.
Sperlonga is ...
show more split into three main sections. To the north of the town lies the more modern and commercial segment of the town, we call it “Sperlonga mare”. In the south the historical old town area remains unspoilt, we call it “centro storico”. The third section is the nearby hill, just a few minutes long away from the old town that offers peaceful atmospheres. We call it “collina di Sperlonga”.
Sperlonga is a seaside village halfway between Naples and Rome, a small resort singular medieval hill-town with an agricultural origin : the village is perched upon a hill, the rocky spur of Mt. S. Magno and conserves its original typically.
The town owes its picturesque structure to the need to create a strong defensive system against pirates arriving from the sea.
Quaint and charming with its strait alley, narrow windy streets and a series of steps.
A sloping staircase cut into the rocks (or the town's shuttle during summer season) rapidly descends directly to the sandy beach and to the blue Mediterranean Sea below (bear in mind if you have kids).
It has winding cobblestone lanes, whitewashed houses built into the hillside, views of clear blue water and a sandy coastline and so many spectacular views of the sky and the sea all the way to Gaeta and Terracina, and a quiet piazza which is perfect for a cool drink on a hot afternoon sitting in characteristic cafe that create a particular atmosphere. The little bridge, 'il Ponte' where people walk, and enjoy the stunning views along the beach.
In the background the emperor 'Tiberius's holiday villa, and his grotto can be seen. The sea has been declared one of the best in Italy for many decades past.
Just a few minutes’ walk away, Sperlonga's beaches have been awarded the 'EU Blue Flag' award, for the past 16 years. The 'National Association of Italian Townships' classified Sperlonga as amoung 30 of the top most beautiful places in Italy.
No need for a car here, as there are restaurants, shops, boutiques, bar's, a bank, post office, and a small market, all within a short walking distance.
The difference is clear between the historical center with its purely medieval buildings and the north urban are with featuring modern design.
Structured like a great neighborhood in a big city, the area has modern buildings, fortunately not impressive, with apartments.
Few have the lift, after all the planning of Sperlonga has been the explosion in the early sixties. This are is very convenient for families with children because of its proximity to the sea and the absence of steps and lanes, not to be overlooked also in almost all cases, the presence of private parking and a wide range of shops available nearby.
This peaceful location is a tranquil oasis from life elsewhere. Lovely views, and a perfect Mediterranean garden setting. A heaven for the soul, and certainly for the eyes.
Just a few minutes long away from the old town and the sandy beaches.
You need a car as the properties are located on the unspoilt hill that is less than 2 km from the town.
The hill overlooks the sea and the mountains and is surrounded of flowering bougainvilleas, aloes and other Mediterranean plants.
All the properties has a private garden.
Sperlonga's lake of San Puoto:
The legend tells on its lake bed is placed the mythic town of Amiclae. This lake is 3 kms far away from the town. Directly on this lake is situated a water skiing school " little lake club".
Natural lake fed by springs that come from small hills surrounding where, thus the water quality and their habitat and create an environment extraordinarily balanced.
The lake has volcanic origin that still retains its integrity by ensuring an unparalleled ecosystem symbiosis between sports and nature, favorited by the microclimate of the Pontine area.
It is an undoubted privilege to practice water-skiing and long walking in a state so rich in natural elements. The respect also we strive to protect its ecosystem, allows to enjoy this location with a so rare intensity that distinguish the Laghetto as the place unique.
