Holiday houses at the Italian Riviera offer exiting cultural vacations at the sea

A holiday in a floral paradise? The Italian Riviera with its Mediterranean climate and its numerous cultivation areas for flower growing is regarded as one of the most beautiful areas for renting a holiday domiciles in Italy. Right at the water or rather up in the mountains, the choice of holiday apartments and houses at the Italian Riviera is large – and thus everyone can find their ideal holiday home. The Italian Riviera stretches along the Ligurian Sea to the east and west of Genoa and can be divided into the Riviera di Levante and the Riviera di Ponente. Especially popular are the holiday houses at the Italian Riviera in the villages Vado Ligure, Finale Ligure, Albenga, Alassio and Imperia as this part of the coast is also called Riviera dei Fiori – Riviera of flowers. Everywhere one can find flower markets and wide fields of flowers which will amaze you.

A holiday apartment at the Italian Riviera guarantees a wide variety

The Italian Riviera is part of the region Liguria. Along the coast there are fincas and holiday apartments in villages such as Bordighera, Diano Marina or Portofino and Cinque Terre. Heavenly sunny days in the garden of your “own” villa, perhaps even with a private pool, but in any case with a clear blue sky make a vacation in Italy so immensely popular. Fruits such as olives and grapes are grown in the hinterland in terraces, fishing is done at the coast. Clean beaches and small villages are ideal for a relaxing holiday at the Italian Riviera. Cities such as Portofino with their stunning natural harbours are the centre of attraction for VIPs from all over the world that live here or come regularly for their holidays. When in the region a must see is the Castello Brown above Portofino, a fortress from the 14th century.

Genoa – a city with history at the Italian Riviera which holiday makers should not miss out on

The Italian Riviera lies to the east and west of Genoa. Wherever your booked holiday domicile might be, a visit in the famous harbour city, the capital of Liguria, is a must for all travellers in the northwest of Italy. In 2006 declared as World Cultural Heritage by the UNESCO, Genoa stretches along 35 kilometres of the coast. The metropolis, which possibly dates back to the 4th century BC, offers everything tourists wish for: Shopping, culture and most of all history. The seafarer Christopher Columbus started his voyages from Genoa to discover the new world. Here also Europe’s largest aquarium was built in 1992. The old harbour was redesigned by the renowned Italian architect Renzo Piano. In the old city one can also find the possible birthplace of Columbus. Museums, castles and the famous lighthouse of Genoa are great attractions for everyone. Those who like photography, botany, landscape drawing, water sports and history will absolutely enjoy the Italian Riviera.

“Riomaggiore is very touristy, but has nevertheless lost its charm of very little. The recommended walks around the Cinque Terre are no longer completely walkable, but the area around Riomaggiore towards Portovenere is very nice. The walks lead by stairs through vineyards, forests, small original old village with typical Mediterranean stone house and on steep slopes with panoramic sea views. Very well described and the km distances agree. It's fun to celebrate this.”

“In the preseason very pleasant. Good shopping - and small, fine restaurants. Other villages of the Cinque Terre reached without problems by train.”

“Riomaggiore we liked better than the much acclaimed Vernazza, das0leider also determined was in the hands of many tourists. One hears there as often as American Italian. Shops are good, small grocery stores with the necessary are available, but some high prices. Since we were traveling without children, we can on the subject of child friendliness, unfortunately, nothing to say, in principle, but the Italians are generally very relaxed and friendly in dealing with children. The restaurants total not enthusiastic us her very level from the kitchen, however, are a bit spoiled when it comes to that. The price-performance level is not true really. The location of the restaurant on the harbor is fantastic, the Pesto Genovese al there also wonderful. Also fish can eat well in Riomaggiore. Class is the compound of the Cinque Terre villages by train, about 2x per hour a train, you are in no time in the next town, which is convenient for walkers. The trails are rightly praised a lot and go through paradisiacal landscapes with lush botany, spectacular views. For this enough to be read in guidebooks recommend this to Christoph Henning. However, parking in Riomaggiore is a disaster: the overpriced parking garage or far far away with a lot of luck on the coast road. We had a "close" parking, which we min approx 20th had to walk. Best to travel by train or live outside of the Cinque Terre, when you do not want to leave the car outside the house. Back to Riomaggiore: man / woman can buy wonderful souvenirs, many typical Ligurian delicacies but especially T-shirts, postcards, bags, bracelets, etc. All in all: we will be back !!!”
