“We visited Porto Colom only very briefly, the place we should be noisy and busy (which applies to all tourist spots). Therefore, we always book a finca in a secluded location.”

“to stroll along the harbor, is very nice. One can find a restaurant next to the other. If you go to the bay around towards the lighthouse, it is on the other side much quieter, you have around you nature and two pretty little beaches.

The main beach is also very clean, there are paramedics for jellyfish bites or similar, also plenty of bars and restaurants. One of the beaches on Mallorca, where actually the flag is raised, indicating when many jellyfish are on the way but also can surprise even a. But what is also not really bad or even dangerous. It scares easily. Nevertheless, the sea is beautiful. Supermarkets, several small shops selling beach gear, souvenirs, etc., restaurants, ice cream, ... - all there.”

“Porto Colom has retained the character of a small village with a fishing port. In addition to a few hotels there are also several nice restaurants. You can make enough even without a car, as some other beaches are within walking distance. By car you can make a variety of excursions in the surrounding area.”

“We were in September in Porto Colom and it was relatively quiet, which will be in the summer months a little different. Nevertheless, the former fishing village is probably really boil over at any time. Reason is the lack of direct-to-reach beaches (the white sandy, tourist Cala Marcal is about 15 min., The small family S'Arenal S'Arenal Petit Grand and about 10 min. Drive). The typical tourist places like Alcudia or Cala d'Or cluster of souvenir and Kramläden, restaurants, bars and other entertainment infrastructure is lacking here (thankfully). Who is accustomed to hotel vacations with short walk to the beach and colorful-humid evenings between entertainment and cocktails, is in P. certainly not happy. The small town is more for people who appreciate the more Autenthische a place and can enjoy the tranquility, due to its location it is very suitable to explore by rental car bays and sights of the Majorcan east and south. The food is more upscale and expensive, in the tourist south of Porto Colom (Cala Marcal) but there are also a few cheaper bistros (qualitative rather questionable). Popular is the place especially with British, German come only in second place. Among the visitors are many older couples, then families with small children - young people, the place has little to offer (so there are no playgrounds, game rooms or larger discos).”

This is how holiday rental owners described Portocolom

PORTOCOLOM, safe haven throughout time for seafarers plying the Mare Nostrum, is one of the best natural harbours in Mallorca. Only eleven kilometres from the town of Felanitx to which it belongs it is, nowadays, one of the most picturesque corners of the Island.

charm as a fishing port untouched, and which still reflects a delightful maritime air in its picturesque corners. Its lighthouse, built in 1860, 42 m. above sea level, enhances the beauty of this great Mediterranean port even more.
The seafaring spirit of the place, its traditional artisan work, its close attachment to the land, its local dances and its regional cuisine continue still as the signs of identity of a Mediterranean town as many faceted, imperishable and different as its daily life.Prehistoric relics, hidden coves, charming villages and above all its friendly people who retain the beauty of the Mallorcan spirit within them. The Felanitx coastline has very many unspoilt heavenly coves of exceptional beauty. The most extensive is Cala Marçal which has every type of amenity. S'Arenal, close by the lighthouse, is smaller. The remainder of its coves, of difficult access, may be reached by boats which make the trip from the Port.
Its enviable geographical location makes PORTOCOLOM an ideal setting for all water sports: sailing, diving, fishing, water skiing and a wide range of other sports such as golf, tennis and cycling, or simply sunbathing and swimming from its marvellous beaches.

Porto Colom is a town on Mallorca´s east coast, within the municipality of Felanitx. The arrival of tourism in the 1960s brought large-scale development, with hotels and apartments being built. with beaches that have calm waters due to the protection afforded by the port, and a wide selection of hotels and restaurants, make Porto Colom the perfect spot for family holidays.
Over the years the port´s commercial activities have disappeared, and fishing now has a token presence. However, the sailing club of Club Nàutic de Porto Colom is one of the most important and best-equipped on Mallorca, with many pleasure craft.
Cala Marçal: this beach, which is 90 m long and 150 m wide, has fine white sand; it is located in the residential area of Porto Colom and is surrounded by low cliffs. There is ample parking at the back, and the beach is well signposted.
Services: restaurants; sun loungers, pedal boats and parasols for hire.

Relaxation and partying – That is what Majorca has to offer

Here you can find the island capital Palma de Mallorca with its pretty historical centre and impressive cathedral. East of that is the never ending beach Platja de Palma to goes to s'Arenal. In the midst of this party addicts will find their desire. More placid are the towns of sa Ràpita, Llucmajor, Campos and Saint Jordi as well as the splendid lovely beach of Es Trenc. Along the eastern side of Majorca you will be able to discover many small coastal resorts and lovely beaches. Particularly popular are Porto Cristo, Cala d'Or, Cala Ratjada and Santanyí. The north of the island is very much free of mass tourism. Larger towns here are Alcúdia and Pollença. This part of the island is shaped by lovely beaches and captivating natural landscape. A trip to Cap Formentor which is on the north western tip of the island and where you will find a lonesome lighthouse is worth considering. There are great holiday homes available in the north like for example in Cala de Sant Vicenç, Can Picafort, Port de Pollença and Muro. Even more secluded than the north is the west part of Majorca where one can find many remote small towns and villages. This is complemented by the spectacular mountain range Serra de Tramuntana which is the ideal place for climbers, hikers and mountain bikers with its vast area. On the south western part around Andratx and Port d'Andratx you will find many luxury villas of celebrities and it’s also much livelier here. It is also worth taking a look in the heartland of the island. The landscape is very impressive and many villages have been able to retain their Majorcan way of life. Most of the houses in the mountains and hills are traditionally restored and modern fincas. Most have their own pool and are generally cheaper than those objects at the coast. From here you can explore the countryside around you or head off to the next beach – which is never far away.
