Amongst lemon trees and olive groves

Lake Garda | Lake Garda looks like a sea amidst the mountains. Even Goethe praised the spectacular scenery during a stay in 1786: “How I wish my friends could be here with me for a moment so they could rejoice in this view in front of me. Tonight I could have been in Verona but this admirable natural scenery was still lying next to me. An exquisite spectacle, Lake Garda, which I did not want to miss and I was gloriously rewarded for my circuitous route.”

Until this day you are offered numerous spectacular panoramic views around Lake Garda. When standing in Riva del Garda at the northern bank of the lake and you let your gaze wander towards the south you will understand what Goethe so longingly meant. The deep blue water surface sparkles amidst steep and rugged mountain slopes surrounded by green hillsides and these only cut through occasionally by a white sailing boat. On your way to the southern bank you are spoilt for choice. There are scenic roads along the banks on both sides of the lake that lead through smaller and larger villages nestled up in the hillsides. The Gardesana Occidentale runs along the western embankment through Limone, Gargnano and Salo and passes lemon as well as olive groves which are spread out over the slopes. Driving along the other side of Gardesana Orientale you will mainly see olives growing on the hillsides which are the source of the excellent olive oil produced around Lake Garda. Especially the picturesque villages of Malcesine, Torri del Benaco and Garda are ideal for a short stroll through town. In the background ascends Monte Baldo – with more than 2,000 metre the highest mountain around the lake.

Driving further to the south the scenery becomes hilly and the rough rocks of the Alps disappear gradually. In the Po Valley the landscape is dominated by green and turquoise colours and here the lake is at its broadest without being confined by the corset of restrictive rock formations. On the south bank you are able to find the most important and well-known villages: Peschiera, Sirminone or Desenzano.

You can truly discover and experience a lot! There is way too much to list or mention here. Come and find out for yourself!

“Who does not want to beaten track, this is the place. Man now and dogs and donkeys, Trecker- or Mähgeräusche and human voices heard. There are two restaurants and a supermarket. However, the approach is rather not recommendable to the village over very narrow serpentines quite adventurous and anxious for motorists.”

This is how holiday rental owners described Pieve di Tremosine

Pieve Tremosine is a lovely village situated on the west shore of Lake Garda, on a sunny position overlooking the lake. There are numerous ways to enjoy oneself: beautiful mountain bike excursions, horse riding in the woodlands and lots of walks on litle paths up the mountains.

Eighteen fractions: one of which is situated right on the shore, and the remainder dotted around on a busy plateau. It is set on hillocks of panoramic beauty towering over the entire Lake Garda. Tremosine is situated in the heart of ...

the “Parco Alto Garda Bresciano” (Brescian Upper Garda Park) and it embodies its very essence, whilst bringing together all the natural and environmental qualities which are characteristic of an area of protected nature.

The most significant among these qualities has to be its scenic beauty. Here, the highest mountains in the Park fade into the blue of Lake Garda, creating settings you have never seen before. A natural haven yet untouched and unspoiled, the green plateau of Tremosine stretches out among the mountains and the lake, the Alpine and the Mediterranean and comforts the souI of its visitors. Opposite, on the other side of the lake, Mount Baldo stands imposinglv. The road running along the deep gorge of the Brasa stream Is marvellous, at times dug deep within the rock and others jutting out from overhanging cliffs leaving you in awe. Upon its inauguration, back in 1913, a correspondent for the Frankfurter Zeitung defined it as “the most beautiful road in the world”. Driving along it, it takes just a few minutes to go from the animated Lake Garda shore to the peacefulness of the plateau, where terraces sheer above the lake display all is splendour to the human eye. From the “Terrazza del brivido”, suspended 350 metres above the lake, the view is breathtaking. And, when evening comes, you can discover the delicacies of refined yet simple cooking.

There are many typical restaurants as well as numerous holiday farms whose strong points are the very typical products and traditions of the region. Even as far as cooking is concerned, the mingling of Mediterranean and Alpine flavours can be noticed: from lake fish to mountain game, from the famous Garda extra virgin olive oil to the noteworthy black truffles, and from wines to a variety of cheeses. A holiday in Tremosine offers a unique pleasant ensemble of opportunities and interesting activities, making your stay here an unforgettable experience.

"… in the middle of it is a spot where the pastors of Trent and Brescia and Verona, if they went that way, might give their blessing"
