It may be tempting to stay in the comfort of your holiday apartments, but then you'd miss out on all the great things the region has to offer. The Alps are a wonderful destination for skiing and hiking. On one hike through the Alps it is possible to climb mountainsides, cross valleys and go through forests. Notable mountains include the Matterhorn and Gran Paradiso. “Omegna is not really typical Italian, is probably simply because it is an industrial location. However, if you go further around the lake, Orta San Giulio is even more enchanting. And pleased us each morning with a super delicious breakfast at Pan & Vino on the Piazza (Piazza Motta).”

“Omegna is a city that lacks the typical Italian flair. There are shopping possibilities in several supermarkets, which are even open on Sundays. The weekly market on Thursday morning is recommended. In general, it is recommended to follow Orta San Giulio. There you will find everything that connects you with Italy and the South. It is also recommended not to eat in the typical tourist places. In the restaurant Circolo di Agrano in Agrano you can eat well and cheap. There are two menus for lunch each day. Costs with drink: € 10 .-- per person. Attention: with beer it becomes more expensive. Lemonade and wine are included in the price. In the evening the rather simple restaurant changes into a well-visited pizzeria, where a reservation is essential. Also highly recommended is the Ristorante da Venanzio in San Maurizio d'Opaglio. Ingenious for lovers of fish and seafood.”

“Omegna itself apart from its location is no particular beauty. Rather a small bustling town, which has already seen the time of its industrial bloom behind. Much more interesting are the excursions in the immediate area. Northward into Dossola valley or the Alps, to the east of Lake Maggiore or to the south in the Po valley leads after short journey times of under one hour. If you want a really good place for a very good price-performance ratio in Omegna, which is the "Alla Vaporiera" recommended, which lies near the Alessi outlets at Via Alla Stazione. From the outside not very inviting, but stylish inside, clean, with very helpful staff and excellent (!) Cuisine at reasonable prices.
Excellent, local food at reasonable prices can be found half an hour drive away in the "Osteria della Faina", which can be reached just outside Ameno far from tourism after an adventurous Driving (hardly suitable for campers).”
