“Monopoli is a great city, you have enough shopping within from the 3 km there are Lidl, Netto, Penny and Familia. Bakery and small grocery stores are nearby. It takes some time until we find your way around the maze of streets, but this one discovers always new.

The water is super clean, the beaches typically Italian (often the waste is left lying, instead of throwing it in the trash), but the bathing does not detract from, because there are plenty of corners are relatively clean.

If you want to make a quiet relaxing holiday without much partying but rather comfortably can for a glass of wine a quiet evening, Monopoli is just right.

The prices are very low, so you pay with 3 people including drinks for a meal with appetizer, rarely more like € 35.”

This city is rich in history and a well sought after destination for history lovers.

Monopoli’s main sites include the Castle of Charles V, the Coastal castle of St. Stephen, the Jerusalem Hospital, the Cathedral Basilica, Purgatorio Church ,and the Palazzo Palmieri. Make sure not to miss out Jerusalem Hospital, founded in 1350 by the Hospitaller and the Cathedral Basilica.

With plenty of unspoilt coast, clear blue seas and the beautiful countryside given over to mainly olive production, orchards and almond trees, it is easy to understand why Italian tourists arrive in droves during the summer, festivals and holidays. There are over 2 dozen sandy beaches dotted along the 8 miles of this part of the coast and many other bathing opportunities from the low lying rocks.

Rent a holiday home on the Italian Adriatic Coast

The Italian Adriatic Coast stretches from Lecce in southern Italy to Trieste on the border with Slovenia and includes many notable cities, towns and beach resorts. Consequently there are plenty of great locations in which to rent a holiday home or holiday house on the Italian Adriatic Coast including Venice, Rimini and Brindisi.

Great Italian Adriatic Coast holiday house destinations

Visitors who rent a holiday apartment in Venice can enjoy the city's magnificent attractions including St Mark's Square, the Basilica of di San Marco, Santa Maria della Salute and The Doge's Palace. Alternatively, if you book a holiday house or rent a holiday apartment in southern Italy, you can make a trip to Lecce, an architectural gem of a city. In the heart of a region famous for its olive oil, Lecce's honey coloured 12th century cathedral is a masterpiece of Baroque art. Travellers staying at holiday homes or holiday rentals on Italy's Adriatic coast flock to the region's numerous beach resorts and with 15 km of beach Rimini is amongst the most popular. If you stay at a holiday home in the Le Marche region you can visit the Sirolo and Numana resorts. Numana has a sandy beach that is ideal for watersports and scuba diving. Book a holiday rental in Foggia to visit the Gargano National Park, which has some of the most beautiful landscapes on the Adriatic coastline.

The best time to visit the Italian Adriatic Coast

With lower than average rainfall, the summer is probably the best time to visit the beach resorts on Italy's Adriatic coast and those staying at holiday rentals in Venice should also make their trip in the summer to enjoy some of the cities great festivals and avoid the flooding which can be a problem in the winter. The more southerly of the region's resorts enjoy far longer summers but whether you are planning a beach holiday or want to explore the area's many historic towns and villages you will find a warm welcome at any time of the year.
