A land of ancient castles and wild nature

In the north of Slovakia lies the Tatransky Region, one of the country's most attractive areas its is divided into two sub regions, Upper Tatra and northern Spiš. The Tatras consist of a boundary mountain range, perfect for families in search of holiday houses and holiday apartments. Often referred to as the “Miniature Alps”, the Tatras is an outstanding place for alpine hiking and climbing. In addition to Central Slovakia's many ski resorts a wide variety of winter sports are available including activities like dog sledding with huskies. The northern area of Spiš is known for its medieval monasteries and castles and is the ideal region in which to take a holiday home or holiday rental if you want to be immersed in the country's history. Another place of interest is the National Park of Slovenský raj, a nature reserve situated in East Slovakia. The area, one of Slovakia's nine national parks, beguiles visitors with its gorges and waterfalls and is the location of the Dobšinská Ice Cave, one of the largest ice caves in Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

With most of the country's major attractions in close proximity to each other, renting a holiday apartment or holiday house is the perfect way to explore Slovakia because with a holiday rental you get to experience this exotic country from the inside, almost as if you lived there. From May to September, the main tourist season, it may be more difficult to rent a holiday home in Slovakia and booking in advance is recommended.
