“The location was not bad, the town center was a 5 minute walk and the location was relatively quiet.
Only on Sunday at late afternoon people gather near the sea and puts the loud music that is heard for most of the country.”

“Shops nearby (supermarket in the village at 500 m), more important shops at 5 kms by national. Small lively village, with good tavern (special recommendation on grilled pig).”

“It has a small shop nearby and a small village. The beach is a few minutes walk away (beautiful sandy beach) but it has not got there umbrellas and chairs, but you can make yourself comfortable under the trees. For cozy holiday excellent, who wants to explore the city, get better in a bigger city to the center. Viewed we have in place is not too much and there is probably not. By car you can (highly recommended) take good trips to nearby cities such as Olympia.”

This is how holiday rental owners described Kakovatos

“Elleftheria” is the Greek word for “freedom” which is exactly your feeling on walking through the gate of this delightful rural house with its secluded gardens and the views of the Ionian Sea and surrounding mountains. Meet the Real Greek Greece!

of a hill of outstanding natural beauty on the outskirts of the town of Zacharo near to the villages of Lepreo and Tholo. Due to its location, 200 meters above sea level, offers a panoramic view over the bay of Kyparissia and the local olive groves as well as the valleys and mountains that surround the house on the other 3 sides.

The village is one of the prettiest and cheapest destinations. There, you can find a grocery, a mini market and lots of taverns. In the central beach of the village, for 40 years now there is a fish tavern named “Kochili” at your left hand and at your right hand ...

there is another one named “I Mouries”. Moreover, before you reach the central beach, you will run into two more fish taverns. All fish taverns offer roasted meat as well. The tavern named “To Pigadi”, next to the old well which supplied with water the whole village, serves Greek home made dishes. Little more further from the well, in the market of the village, there is a grill house named “O giatros tis pinas” which serves Greek souvlaki and other kinds of roasted meat. On the other side of the village near to the primary school there is another tavern named “I folia tou dasous” where you can taste delicious roasted meat too in the evening hours of the day. In addition, it is known as an event center for weddings and christenings.

As I have referred to it, Kakovatos is very proud for its finest beach. There is the central beach which concludes the fish taverns mentioned before and a few meters at your right hand there is the second beach with a splendid beach bar named Marabu where you can enjoy your swimming with the coffee of your desire or a local drink called “ouzo” accompanied with various finger foods. Both beaches offer free shower, umbrellas and sun beds. The third beach called “potami” is located left from the central beach. They all have thin sand in and outside of the sea but in the third beach sometimes you may find a small amount of rocks. They are also ideal for playing rackets and beach volley. The sea is shallow or deep depending on how the wind moves the sand. Be careful on the currents of the sea when there are waves. You will not encounter a lifeguard but the village has placed life preservers along the beach.

In the market of the village you can enjoy the authentic Greek coffee in the two traditional cafes of the village. The night life takes place at Marabu to the second beach and in a club named “A Club” next to the tavern called “To Pigadi”. For something more you should have to go to Zacharo either in the beach club named “Para thin alos” or to the cafes in the central square. In the village, one weekend of August, usually the first, the Culture club arranges a two days event. Last year, it was dedicated to olive and olive oil. In the nearest theatre named “Floka” towards to Ancient Olympia, every summer concerts and theatrical performances, which they have been produced in winter, occur. Moreover, in the villages nearby, lots of festivals with traditional music and piglets to be offered take place every summer. The most known is the festival in the Madonna of Varko at 23rd of August.

Heavenly west coast

Peloponnese | Spend a lovely holiday with your family in the „Garden of Peloponnese“! This is how the province along the western Greek coast is referred to due to the good harvests and heavenly sea. Long sandy beaches entice for long walks and sand castle building. Also enjoy a lovely sea view to the neighbouring islands Zakynthos and Kefalonia!
Those interested in history: The western coast of Peloponnes awaits with a number of testimonies of the Greek antique period. Some worth mentioning include Olympia the venue of the antique Olympic Games and one of Greece’s most important sights or the impressive Nestor Palace at Pylos a Mycenaean Palace from the 14th century BC in the midst of the hills of Messenia.
Particularly impressive are the more than 100 holiday homes that atraveo can offer in the “Garden of Peloponnese”. Often it is just a brief walk from the summer house to the next village which ensures that the properties provide a certain amount of seclusion to ensure peace and recuperation. Ideal for water sport enthusiasts and water lovers is the fact that the beach is always just a brief walk away. With many houses you merely have to go through the garden and you are at the shingle beach. Whilst sitting outside on the roofed terrace you will benefit from a cool sea breeze.
