“Gythio is a typical Greek port town with a pretty promenade. There are also numerous restaurants. At shops everything is available. Banks are numerous. There is also an interesting market in town that is obviously important to the local people. (Bazaar-like)”

This is how holiday rental owners described Gythio

Gythio remains a beloved destination for visitors worldwide. Favorite to cruise ships, it is a charming fishing port with nice preserved houses and a trading centre of many shops, banks, restaurants and a local hospital.

pyramid peak domes at the back of the beach.

The beach is a birthing spot of the sea-turtles (to lay their eggs in the sand)
Volunteers help in securing and marking the nests.
In early morning you can witness the birth of the little turtles and their salvation route to the sea.

In the afternoon winsurfing funs will love the light wind breeze.

Being at the centre of the central peninsula, Gythion is the ideal spot base for short daily trips to both sides of Peloponnese.
• Monemvassia (the Greek Gibraltar) is 75 km away .
• Elafonissos tropic water islet beaches at 120km away.
• Byzantine Mystras casteltown at 45 km away.
• Mani, a rocky towered area, 55 km afar
• The “Caves” neolithic caves with stalactits and stalagmids, accessed indoor by roaring boat, are 30km away ( www.mani.org ))
• Kalamata, a lively sea-side city, with the airport and the historic sites at 100 km away
• Taygetus spectacular mountain range, with its many trekking path routes

Laconia is a still virgin area- away from the massive tourism track , with mild climate and a more than 200 km coast line.

Gythio at the center of the Laconian Gulf , is a lively, charming little harbor, with a tiny islet in front of the port, and of colorful promenade with neo-classical mansions, narrow streets and fishing boats.

Heavenly west coast

Peloponnese | Spend a lovely holiday with your family in the „Garden of Peloponnese“! This is how the province along the western Greek coast is referred to due to the good harvests and heavenly sea. Long sandy beaches entice for long walks and sand castle building. Also enjoy a lovely sea view to the neighbouring islands Zakynthos and Kefalonia!
Those interested in history: The western coast of Peloponnes awaits with a number of testimonies of the Greek antique period. Some worth mentioning include Olympia the venue of the antique Olympic Games and one of Greece’s most important sights or the impressive Nestor Palace at Pylos a Mycenaean Palace from the 14th century BC in the midst of the hills of Messenia.
Particularly impressive are the more than 100 holiday homes that atraveo can offer in the “Garden of Peloponnese”. Often it is just a brief walk from the summer house to the next village which ensures that the properties provide a certain amount of seclusion to ensure peace and recuperation. Ideal for water sport enthusiasts and water lovers is the fact that the beach is always just a brief walk away. With many houses you merely have to go through the garden and you are at the shingle beach. Whilst sitting outside on the roofed terrace you will benefit from a cool sea breeze.
