Perfect fishing holiday in Norway

Norway | Norway is not only a very popular holiday destination because of its breathtaking nature. It is also a paradise for fishing enthusiasts. Deep sea fishing in the North Sea, coastal fishing at the banks of the fjords, freshwater fishing at one of over thousand lakes or demanding salmon fishing in mountain rivers – there is something for every fishermen. And the abundance of fish almost guarantees a perfect fishing day.

At the coast where you are very likely to encounter coal fish, mackerel and cod fishing is mainly free of charge. This means simply “cast the fishing rod and off you go!” When angling in rivers and lakes in the mainland usually a local fishing fee applies. Information on fees and regulation can usually be obtained from the local tourist information or at fishing and sports shops.

In order to guarantee a perfect fishing vacation you should book the appropriate holiday house. This way you keep your independence as many holiday homes are ideally equipped for fishing holidays. When using the atraveo search just click on “Further characteristics”, then on “Special properties” and then choose “Fishing holidays”. You will get a selection of houses which usually provide filleting tables, large deep freezers and possibly a barbecue. Most of these houses are situated right next to a body of water – whether coast, lake or river depends on the region and location you are looking for – and then usually provide a small jetty and a rowing or motor boat.

What could be better for a fishing enthusiast after a successful day than sitting in the evening on the holiday house’s terrace, enjoying Norway’s great nature whilst the catch of the day is cooking on the barbecue.

Popular regions for a Norway holiday with atraveo customers are: Norway’s fjords, Norway’s mountains, the area around the Oslo Fjord as well the island group Lofoten.

“We chose the apartment because of its proximity to the Trolltunga. The trip to Norway alone was worth the trip. Sufficient shopping opportunities are located in Odda and Kinsarvik. Also, aspen is perfect for exploring or hiking in all directions (Hardangervidda, Folgefonn National Park). Country and people are very hospitable - we had a total holiday!”

“The resort Espe itself does not make much, but just because of the beautiful location and a great place to make numerous excursions in the area. A few kilometers away and you come in Odda where a number of supermarkets and shops are. For Odda was the parking lot where you can make the hike to the Trolltunga. Unfortunately we could not do that, because of the young age of our children. However, we made a beautiful walk to an extraordinarily beautiful lake overlooking a glacier. In the vicinity to discover numerous waterfalls, including the famous Latfossen. (twin falls) To the north drive is certainly worth it, for example to Eidfjord where a visit to the Voringsfossen is a must. Furthermore, by moving you into the Hardangervidda, a very nice area. Also a visit to the nature center near Eidfjord, also for the kids, a nice trip. The numerous tunnels and then over the bridge to drive to Bergen is also a real experience! Bergen itself is also worthwhile to spend a day. The Floibahn up, you have a magnificent view over the city and the sea and the children have still entertained in the playground. We were quite excited about the area and had still want to stay longer ...”

“15-30 minute drive to the nearest major city. Aspen itself is a very small "city". The price level in Norway is generally very high, therefore it is recommended that provisions before the holiday to buy and take it. Things there are many, this simply look on tripadvisor.com. Only for people who are very close to nature and recommended hikes over several hours, as well as long trips to have to oppose anything. Norway is an impressive country.”
