Holiday houses at the Italian Riviera offer exiting cultural vacations at the sea

A holiday in a floral paradise? The Italian Riviera with its Mediterranean climate and its numerous cultivation areas for flower growing is regarded as one of the most beautiful areas for renting a holiday domiciles in Italy. Right at the water or rather up in the mountains, the choice of holiday apartments and houses at the Italian Riviera is large – and thus everyone can find their ideal holiday home. The Italian Riviera stretches along the Ligurian Sea to the east and west of Genoa and can be divided into the Riviera di Levante and the Riviera di Ponente. Especially popular are the holiday houses at the Italian Riviera in the villages Vado Ligure, Finale Ligure, Albenga, Alassio and Imperia as this part of the coast is also called Riviera dei Fiori – Riviera of flowers. Everywhere one can find flower markets and wide fields of flowers which will amaze you.

A holiday apartment at the Italian Riviera guarantees a wide variety

The Italian Riviera is part of the region Liguria. Along the coast there are fincas and holiday apartments in villages such as Bordighera, Diano Marina or Portofino and Cinque Terre. Heavenly sunny days in the garden of your “own” villa, perhaps even with a private pool, but in any case with a clear blue sky make a vacation in Italy so immensely popular. Fruits such as olives and grapes are grown in the hinterland in terraces, fishing is done at the coast. Clean beaches and small villages are ideal for a relaxing holiday at the Italian Riviera. Cities such as Portofino with their stunning natural harbours are the centre of attraction for VIPs from all over the world that live here or come regularly for their holidays. When in the region a must see is the Castello Brown above Portofino, a fortress from the 14th century.

Genoa – a city with history at the Italian Riviera which holiday makers should not miss out on

The Italian Riviera lies to the east and west of Genoa. Wherever your booked holiday domicile might be, a visit in the famous harbour city, the capital of Liguria, is a must for all travellers in the northwest of Italy. In 2006 declared as World Cultural Heritage by the UNESCO, Genoa stretches along 35 kilometres of the coast. The metropolis, which possibly dates back to the 4th century BC, offers everything tourists wish for: Shopping, culture and most of all history. The seafarer Christopher Columbus started his voyages from Genoa to discover the new world. Here also Europe’s largest aquarium was built in 1992. The old harbour was redesigned by the renowned Italian architect Renzo Piano. In the old city one can also find the possible birthplace of Columbus. Museums, castles and the famous lighthouse of Genoa are great attractions for everyone. Those who like photography, botany, landscape drawing, water sports and history will absolutely enjoy the Italian Riviera.

“For us walking holiday from place to place on the mountain to one of the five towns and then take the train back. Buy lemons and vegetables definitely do in the small shops. Bread buy early otherwise catch you bid. Tap water for us was not good so we bought a lot of water. Buy fish at the market in La Spezia!
Tip: sail to the island of Isola Palmaria there and take a walk.
Montemarcello: leave early in the morning and there is a chance that you all alone land on the beach.
On the sometimes narrow mountain roads you must be a good driver. The booklet ANWB discover Liguria Italian Riviera has helped us to discover the beautiful places.”

“Photogenic, friendly place with a nice atmosphere. Quieter than the other Cinpue Terre villages. As the restaurant can only recommend Cantina di Mananan. Another tip is the wine bar.”

“Pretty place, probably the calmest of the Cinque Terre. From the train station and the beach to the village lead up 383 steps. Beach - narrow and with little wind completely under water. (Food) shopping - very limited, two tiny supermarkets with small but adequate (with modesty) offer, just a bit more expensive. If you want to cook every day itself, one should prefer to bring their own a little more. Several catering options. Good access to rail traffic in all directions. Hiking: main trail (along the coast) No.2 unfortunately for season (November 2012) completely blocked, bypass opportunities on the steep slopes but also very beautiful, just exhausting. Sports: Small soccer field behind a chapel in the town center. Overall, very nice place, very quiet.”

“Shopping facilities: barbecue food is difficult. Otherwise you get any food. Catering: As is usual in a tourist resort. Attractions: The 5Terre ansich. Genoa and Pisa are easily accessible by train. Sports: The water access is a bit difficult. The walks were great. A small caveat: pine forests are all dead. Price level: Just below the pain threshold, but considering the somewhat difficult traffic situation acceptable.”

“There are smaller local stores where you can buy things for your daily needs, gastronomy is abundant and the prices are reasonable, not recommended very good hiking opportunities with a unique view of the beauty of nature, with small children, since routes very steep and stairs are numerous, since the 5 villages are more convenient to reach by train, we recommend a 7 day ticket.”
