“7 km away is a big supermarket where you can get anything. Bevagna is a very old and beautiful town but gives a somewhat sleepy impression early June. Walkers and cyclists can enjoy themselves. For sights you must go to other villages and towns. That is no problem. Umbria is beautiful and varied. Excellent catering facility 1 km: Torre delle Colle in an old fortress. The people are friendly and helpful throughout. With English you will usually be off except in the towns and villages.”

“In Bevagna itself you can buy all the necessary products of daily use. Particularly good shopping offers the nearby town of Foligno. The cuisine is varied and consistently very good. There are in the village itself and a lot to see in the whole region and to discover. Us has particularly impressed the child friendliness in Umbria. The price level is very moderate in comparison with other regions of Italy (for example Tuscany).”

This is how holiday rental owners described Bevagna

Bevagna Bevagna is a town of 5,024 inhabitants in the province of Perugia. It was once known for the cloths made here, the so called “Bevagna cloths”, which were made from the best hemp and were prized all throughout the Papal States. Bevagna is proud to be included in the ...

Borghi più belli d'Italia(the most beautiful villages in Italy association).
As a Roman town (called Mevania), it was relatively prosperous during the Imperial Era. Roman ruins (a theater, baths with exquisite mosaics, the remains of a temple from the second century AD and a Roman Domus) and charming medieval architecture combine to make a pleasant visit to this village.
Among the most important monuments are the Palazzo dei Consoli, dating back to 1270, which now houses the Teatro Torti; Piazza Silvestri which is one of the most important medieval squares in the region and is dominated by both Saint Michele’s Church, built in the late twelfth century, and by Saint Silvestro’s Church which was completed in 1195. In the municipal museum there are many paintings from the Umbrian school as well as some important sculptures.
Each year in the last 10 days of June, Bevagna is transformed once again into its medieval glory. The Mercato delle Gaite(the ancient name for the city’s neighborhoods) consists of parades, races and traditional dishes prepared according to antique Umbrian recipes. Antique Bevagna comes back to life in the wearing of both festive and everyday costumes of the time.

No matter where in Italy you are, it is always the open-hearted people with their original Italian love for life and the busy and colourful flair in the Italian villages and small cities that make this Mediterranean country that attractive and unique. Worth a culinary journey

Whilst enjoying a holiday home vacation you can also have a try at preparing typical Italian food. Eventually the uniqueness of the country is also down to its culinary specialities. With fresh produce bought at the local market even a simple pasta sauce with a glass of wine tastes that much better than at home. Alternatively you can pamper yourself in one of the many Italian restaurants.

Explore Italy’s cities from your holiday apartment

One outstanding highlight is of course Italy’s renowned cities. Rome, the Eternal City, leads the way with its ancient treasures and architectural master pieces such as the Spanish Steps, the Pantheon or St. Peter’s Basilica. Venice is world-famous and unique for its setting in the lagoon and its canals which stretch through the city. Florence, Verona and Siena impress with their cultural sights. And while Milan in the north made its name as the fashion capital Naples in the south attracts tourists with its spectacular location between the sea and Mount Vesuvius. Choose a holiday apartment in one of the Italian cities or at least plan one or two city day trips – you won’t regret it.

By plane, car or train to Italy

Depending on your travel destination and starting point there are several journey options available. The most flexibility is guaranteed by travelling with your own car. However one must consider that travelling to south Italy takes a long time. There are international airports all over Italy and flights to popular holiday destinations are provided all year round. Travelling by train is also a good option when visiting the country south of the Alps.
