Cross-border vacation in the Ardennes
French Ardennes | In the Ardennes atraveo offers you a great selection of more than 2,000 holiday apartments and houses. The Ardennes is a densely wooded mountain range in the heart of Europe with its extensions reaching into countries such as Belgium, Germany, France and Luxembourg. The largest part is formed by the Belgian Ardennes that form the entire south eastern part of this Benelux country. Dense forests, deep moors and bizarre rock formations shape large parts of the landscape here. Rivers and streams have formed deep gorges that have created an Eldorado for both climbers and water sport enthusiasts. Of course hikers and mountain bikers will also be enthused by this region and they can actively explore the splendid nature on diverse tours. Small villages and pretty towns invite you to linger and entice with the odd highlight. Particularly beautiful is for example the cross-border nature park Eifel-Ardennes and the sparsely populated plateau High Fens. Here the Ardennes at the German-Belgian border seamlessly leads into the Eifel and – south of the Mosel – Hunsrück. The foothills of the Ardennes that stretch further south into Luxembourg are also referred to as Ösling. In France the French Ardennes forms the largest part of the Departements Ardennes. Next to nature there are also a number of lovely towns with interesting sights, diverse recreational activities and good restaurants. Why not plan a day trip to the Belgian towns of Liege, Charleroi, Namur or Verviers and buy some famous Belgian chocolates or enjoy an original Belgian waffle on a stroll. Beyond the borders the cities of Maastricht, Aachen, Trier and Luxemburg City are in close proximity. Also the Belgian capital Brussels is only about one hour away by car which is also a realistic day trip. Further ideas and information for example on sport highlights that await you in the Ardennes you can find in the holiday home selection for the Belgian Ardennes or for the French Ardennes.
